Craps Superstitions - From Players to Players

Are you a superstitious gambler? Maybe you’ll be after reading this article. We gathered some of the best craps superstitions so you can have a laugh or let yourself be inspired for your next session.

Please note that this article is for entertainment purposes only so roll your dice and let’s hit it with a burst of good healthy laughter!

“It's bad luck to be superstitious, this is my only superstition!”

Magnetic Chips

We went hunting for some unusual superstitions that you can easily keep in your pocket when placing your bets. And remember: Never say 7 at the table!

However, the forbidden number can be summoned in other ways as well. Take for example a shooter that stops his throw, because of any disruption.

"There is a magnet in the chips. Anytime the dice hit someone’s chips… that nasty number appears."  Maybe that's a tracking tag, look it up. Only thieves would have bad luck in this case.

Also keeping the 2 meters social distance can also bring in cash. So if you are a passer-by, don't ask anything about how to play. Basically, leave people alone with their craps.

What a Dealer Might Say

An experienced dealer will get to see all the superstitions players have. Let's list some of them:

  • "Dice hits the chips" is a saying for rolling a 7 out only;
  • A "dice kiss" mid-air it is supposed to bring 7 out;
  • The server comes by the table with a beverage;
  • Don't let the dice get cold by taking too long to pass it.

Dice, Dice, Baby

One dice usually has 6 faces, 12 edges, and a whole lot of superstitions, almost one for every edge there is.

Let’s read some of the beliefs some craps players have when it comes to rolling the dice!

Craps Superstition

It seems that throwing the dice off the table is a bad omen, so watch out! If this happens, it is best to call off your bets and probably go to another universe to bet again or something.

“Someone arguing over a bet when the shooter was waiting to get the dice to shoot.” Come on guys, communicate better. Arguing is so last season!

Love is in the air

This story starts like any other love story. In Vegas! Two lovers, a few years ago, wanted to try their luck in a craps session. The bet was somewhere around $100 on the twelve. They had a shot of tequila, kissed hard, then rolled the dice.

They hit the 12, while she yelled with excitement “twelve the hard way!”. The few grands won after each time she celebrated, convincing our prince charming that she brings luck to the table.

Fast forward a few years later, our guy was in the same casino and heard the former sticker from the lucky night telling the tale of “the couple that called and then threw the 12. Twice!”

Imagine being part of the casino folklore!

On the other side, some guys want silent support. There is this gambler who wants no disturbance at the table. Because, you know, luck is a scaredy-cat.

So his loving spouse is aware of this and either tries to get a glimpse of his stack or stays unseen until the end of the roll.

What can we say, she’s a keeper!

Kind reminder that foreplay is important, even in gambling. Like those shooters that just grab the dice all fast and throw them super hard with no kind of ritual. Imagine how they make love. We can assume they get unlucky from time to time.

Freeze to bring no jinx

“Anybody doing what I don’t want them to do while I’m shooting! I was shooting and my buddy was playing right next to me and I kept hitting four. He goes to me “ Maybe I should get on the 4. I 7 out and I blamed him the rest of the night - to myself of course.”

Tell him to hush next time! Then if you seven out after saying that you will have no one to blame but yourself! Good luck!

"'The day before yesterday, I walked up to a table, with one person rolling, who had three red chips in his hand and that was it.

When I walked up, he said, "Don't buy in until I'm finished rolling." I said, "I don't do that. I wait until you've made your point."

His next roll, sevened out and he looked at me like it was my fault but, didn't say anything and walked away.''

Craps Superstition
Even though some do not like to be interrupted, others will start their game in the middle of an ongoing one for more luck. There's this guy that will never open a table. To put it in his words '"There has to be action already established. As each of my 4 kids turned 21, I’d take them to Vegas and every time we opened a craps table, it turned into a losing session.

Oddly, only dice. Other tables - no problem. It happened to me other times as well, almost every time I did it."'

Our guess is that you didn't bribe the VooDoo princess, right?

'"My husband whispered to me “you’re doing good, babe”.. then I 7’d out & blamed him the rest of the night. Jinx!"' It seems that luck becomes self-aware when receiving a compliment. Same buddy, so let's leave the feedback for other times.

Overall, the important thing is to have fun, and if your superstitions are part of that fun, we encourage you to keep them close. We also encourage you to keep the responsible gambling rules close.

Let us know about your superstitions that make the craps session even better!
